The storm that hit us last Tuesday evening with wind speeds of more than 200km/h (Manukau Heads) left us without power and internet and only limited cell phone coverage. Power was restored yesterday afternoon, 3 days later....

the amount of rain we had over the last few days is extraordinary - at least on a subjective level. The occasional hours of sunshine in between evaporate the water quickly, hence yesterday we had 30 deg C. with 80% relative humidity....

Yay, we are getting closer.

Yesterday the electrician finished his work and it's great to have lights everywhere to work even longer to get all finished. The floors have been sanded, all walls painted, the bed in the guest bedroom is up and has been tested and found good. No cost spared, a good quality IKEA solid timber bed with drawers. Head piece to arrive in a week or so. We have bought new duvets, cushions and covers.

We are slowly but steadily progressing towards our official opening. Plasterboard stoppers have finished, we can now start the painting and breaking through into the existing house. Plumbing to be finished next and floors to be laid. Deck balustrade and spouting....
