08 Mar Firewood – stuff you need to do when it’s still dry
While it’s so nice and warm, one tends to forget about winter. However the next winter will be coming. So I went down into the forest for a few hours and chopped some of the big pines into smaller pieces and already split some of them, all stuff that we felled last year in August.
You can only get down into the forest when dry, it’s pretty slopy and in winter when everything is wet, there’s no getting back up with the car, not even with a 4×4. The digger driver we had one winter to build the shelter had severe issues getting back up the hill.
Since we only have a horse float that I probably would not be able to get back up the hill (I have never tried but don’t want to), I just loaded Mary’s boot up with the firewood. Note: Mary is our 4×4, everything with motor or soul has a name at our place. Who needs a trailer?
